The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) recently revised its framework for evaluating corporate governance risks at banks and insurers. The revisions aim to strengthen supervision of these risks and, ultimately, prevent them from “fermenting and magnifying” into crises.
The CBIRC has also improved its indicators to increase focus on major shareholders, party leadership, shareholder equity, and the appointment of directors, supervisors, and senior executives.
