In March 2018, the European Commission unveiled an action plan to harness the opportunities for technology in the financial services sector, with the stated goal of making Europe the “global hub for FinTech.”1
In the plan, the EC also referenced the regulatory implications, commenting that new technology “can facilitate, streamline and automate compliance and reporting and improve supervision.”2
