Observations

Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) has expressed concerns about "gender-washing" practices, following a survey of 100 regional banks it published last month.

The survey revealed that among regional banks, on average, only 13.7% of managers were women, compared to 20.8% at the country's three largest banks. However, many of the captured roles were, in reality, quite junior and did not oversee many employees. With these titles removed, only 8.1 percent of managerial roles were held by women.
