Matonobu Matsuo is the Secretary-General of the Japan Securities & Exchange Surveillance Commission. The SESC falls under the FSA and is responsible for “ensuring fair transactions in both securities and financial futures markets.”

Matsuo Motonobu is the Secretary-General of the Japan Securities & Exchange Surveillance Commission.  The SESC falls under the FSA.  Prior to his appointment in 2020, Matsuo was the Vice Commissioner for Evidence-based Policymaking and the Secretary General for the Certified Public Accountants and Auditing Oversight Board.

Prior to that, Matsuo held a variety of leadership positions at the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA).  From 2017, he was the Deputy Director-General, Credit & Insurance system. From 2016-2017, Matsuo was the Deputy Director-General, Credit & Insurance system. Prior to that, he was a Director in the Planning Division.
