In today’s interconnected financial system, the ability to maintain trust is a central challenge. Trust in markets, institutions, and corporate actors is the foundation on which investment, financial inclusion, and market resilience depend. When trust weakens, the integrity and function of markets are put at risk.
With this contribution I want to explore how securities regulators can strengthen trust through improved corporate conduct, effective governance frameworks, and responsible innovation. In my capacity as IOSCO Chair and Chair of the OECD Corporate Governance Committee, I will shed light on recent work led by IOSCO as well as broader insights from the OECD’s Corporate Governance Committee. While these two roles are distinct, my role as Chair of both provides a unique vantage point from which to consider the intersections of culture, governance, and market oversight.
