German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz wants to reform the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) at a fundamental level, to make the regulator more flexible and effective.
After being roundly criticized for its perceived failure in connection with the Wirecard scandal. BaFin is to be given the authority to focus more heavily on preventive action and to investigate suspicious cases more swiftly.
