Observations

In May, MIT Sloan Management Review published a report entitled "Orchestrating Workforce Ecosystems," which calls for integration across business functions and disciplines to lead and coordinate the modern workforce.

Leaders must adapt to a situation in which they have more contributors and less control. In some cases, 30%-50% of an organization is composed of contingent workers, and firms increasingly rely on third parties. Further complicating things, laws prevent traditional performance management for these workers.
