The UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) recently launched a consultation on a revised Corporate Governance Code for the first time in five years, aiming to bolster board accountability and improve internal controls.
“Good corporate governance contributes to long-term company performance by helping to build an environment of trust, transparency, and accountability necessary for fostering long-term investment, financial stability, and business integrity," said Sir Jon Thompson, outgoing chief executive of the FRC.
