Kathy Matsui is an adjunct professor of management at Kyoto University Graduate School of Management. She is also a General Partner of MPower Partners, a $150 million venture capital fund and Japan's first ESG-focused global venture capital fund.
Ms Matsui, an early Japanese proponent of empowering women in the workplace, is a former vice chair and chief Japan equity strategist of Goldman Sachs Japan. She was ranked No. 1 in Japan Equity Strategy by Institutional Investor magazine multiple times, was chosen by The Wall Street Journal newspaper as one of the "10 Women to Watch in Asia" in 2007 for her work on the "Womenomics" theme, and was also named to Bloomberg Markets magazine’s “50 Most Influential” list in 2014.
