Observations

In a recent report, Marsh New Zealand and the Institute of Directors identified risks that could drive a "reset" in the directors' and officers' (D&O) insurance market.

"Insurers have always focussed their attention on the quality of the risks they underwrite and no more so than for D&O over recent years," the authors write. However, while this focus has typically been on financial performance, it has now broadened to include the risk profile of the directors, officers, and overall governance of the respective entities.
