A lawsuit against EY was filed in London last month alleging negligence in its work for NMC Health, a hospital operator which collapsed in 2020 after wide-ranging accounting fraud was revealed. The claim would seek at least $2.5bn in damages, with that figure potentially growing to almost $3bn. A successful claim would rank among the largest damages payouts involving the auditor of a major listed company.
A spokesman for EY UK said: "We are aware a claim has been submitted to the court by the administrators of NMC Health Plc. We will defend the claim vigorously."
