Alessandro Santoni is the Head of On-site Inspections and AQR Section in the Division of Financial Risk Inspections at the European Central Bank (ECB). With over 25 years of experience in the banking sector, he has held managerial roles at the ECB, BMPS, and Goldman Sachs, and served as the Technical Assistance Mission Chief at the International Monetary Fund. He has led complex supervisory, crisis-management, and technical-assistance assignments across Europe and emerging markets (such as Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Afghanistan). He has a PhD in Behavioural Finance and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at ASB-MIT Sloan. He has authored several academic articles specializing in financial crime and bank governance, as well as books, including Corporate Governance in the Banking Sector and How to Value a Bank: From Licensing to Resolution.
