The New York Federal Reserve makes the US financial system stronger and more stable by executing monetary policy, delivering financial services, supervising financial institutions, and providing thought leadership.
The New York Fed oversees the Second Federal Reserve District, which includes New York State, the 12 northern counties of New Jersey, Fairfield County in Connecticut, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Though the New York Fed serves the public interest in a geographically small area, it is the largest Reserve Bank in terms of assets and volume of activity.
