A recent report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) concluded that a "culture of fear" dominates at accounting firms, preventing junior auditors from speaking up.
Marco Meyer, a fellow at the University of Hamburg and co-author of the report, described the culture at accounting firms as one which focuses on 'getting the job done,' rather than doing the right thing. The IPPR's report recommends that firms train employees to speak up and ensure that management provides opportunities for feedback from junior employees.
