In a speech delivered at DC Fintech Week earlier this month, US Federal Reserve Board Governor Christopher J. Waller described AI as a “powerful and rapidly advancing technology” that is both disruptive and transformative.
Waller emphasized that “technological change is a constant in our lives,” often unsettling existing systems while improving productivity and living standards. Waller noted that AI is spreading “even more rapidly” than past innovations like the internet or smartphones, accelerating both disruption and adaptation.
