Observations

US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy's office recently issued guidance on the impact of long hours, limited autonomy, and low wages on workers’ health and organizational performance. Referencing research from the American Psychological Association (APA) and Stanford University, the document linked chronic stress to depression, heart disease, and other serious health implications.

Earlier this year, the APA surveyed more than 2,000 workers, 18% of whom described their workplace as somewhat or very toxic. In addition, 30% reported experiencing harassment, verbal abuse, or violence at work.
