A group of prominent conservatives and former financial industry figures in the UK have written a letter urging Jeremy Hunt, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, to investigate the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to "restore integrity" following the recent de-banking scandal.

Late last month, Natwest CEO Alison Rose stepped down after she admitted to an inaccurate briefing of a BBC journalist pertaining to the closure of a bank account belonging to Nigel Farage, a prominent Conservative commentator. While Rose had claimed that the account was closed purely for business reasons, Farage produced evidence that it was, at least in part, due to his political beliefs.
